The Ivy Press is looking for a Senior Designer (maternity cover) to join the team in our Lewes office (10 minutes by train from Brighton). We package a wide range of non-fiction, illustrated, co-edition books and the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the design of a list of book projects and presentations to budget and schedule, while ensuring that outstanding design standards are monitored and maintained.

The ideal candidate will have:

• at least three years' experience working on co-edition, non-fiction, illustrated books
• the ability to manage the design of a number of book projects at different stages, from concept to plotter, while remaining unflustered
• strong communication skills – you should be able to communicate effectively with the in-house editorial team and the production department, as well as liaising with freelancers, illustrators, picture researchers, photographers and co-edition clients
• creative design and layout skills, with a good knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
• experience in organizing and art directing photo-shoots
• a proven ability to adhere to tight schedules and budgets
• a meticulous eye for detail and the ability to solve problems effectively.
