Project Editor

Ivy Press is looking for a Project Editor to join the team in our Lewes office (10 minutes by train from Brighton). Ivy Press produces a growing list of non-fiction, illustrated books and the successful candidate will be responsible for managing book projects to budget and to schedule while ensuring that editorial standards are monitored and maintained.

The position of Project Editor is primarily a project management role and the ideal candidate will have:

  • experience of managing non-fiction, illustrated book projects
  • strong project management skills, with the ability to organize a range of simultaneous titles all at different stages, delegating and supervising work from manuscript to plotter proof stage
  • the ability to supervise and maintain schedules and budgets
  • excellent communication skills, allowing you to liaise effectively with the in-house design and production teams, as well as with authors, freelancers and clients
  • proven copy-editing and proofreading skills, with experience of UK and US styles
  • a good knowledge of Word and InDesign
  • a meticulous eye for detail and the ability to solve problems proactively and effectively
