Ilex Photo, the UK’s leading photography publisher, is looking for a Managing Editor to drive the publishing program forward. We’re looking for a really talented individual because this is a demanding but rewarding role.

Top of the list of responsibilities is the running of the live book program, from commissioning authors, managing the in-house and freelance editorial teams, right through to signing off books ready for print. The role includes setting and managing budgets, determining production schedules, and running weekly production meetings.

In addition to running the live book program the Managing Editor also oversees our new title ideas program. Working with in-house and out-of-house teams to create new title presentations, attending key book and photography fairs, and working alongside the Publisher and Rights Director in presenting to our co-edition publishing partners.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a totally up-to-date knowledge of photography techniques and technologies, must have direct hands-on editing and/or writing experience in the book or magazine world, and must have direct experience of managing teams in a creative environment.
